Definitely not your average western, I'm slightly biased because I watched carnivale when it was originally broadcast and was completely unprepared for the cancellation. Deadwood I didn't get into until after it was cancelled so I was prepared for an unfinished storyline that time

Carnivale by a long shot in my book. Deadwood was a great show for sure but there's been hundreds of westerns on tv and movies, there's never been anything remotely close to carnivale fine on any medium
