You know what really stands out about this list? These cars all felt very different to drive or even ride in. Each car and even each manufacturer had its own character. You could actually feel, see, and hear different sensations and it was all over the map. You would certainly know if you were in an ‘80's CRX vs. an

That... makes complete sense. I never thought of it like that but wow, that just made a big mental puzzle piece fit into place.

SCREW the F&I guys. Seriously. Bought a Tacoma new and after negotiating with a reasonable salesman I was wheeled into the F&I dipshit... I got the GAP pitch which I explained no, I have enough cash to take the minimal risk plus I put a healthy amount down and had enough to pay cash outright - Always avoid being

Came here to say this. The plot is juuuuust thicker than you’re average porn adaptation of whatever popular movie/franchise/show.

Came to say this, figured someone would beat me to it. Take your star, sir.

So much this. The Concorde “failed” due to operational cost. Average transcontinental round trip flights were ~$14,000 in 2023 dollars - (~$7500 in 1996 $)

Thank you. I’ve been saying this for years, but I’m only an engineer with 19 years in automation...

Surprised it took until the comments before the 4Runner was suggested.

What killed the Prowler love for me was the autotragic only transmission. V6's are fine and the specs were competitive for the era. I even remember thinking this V6 was advanced since many V8's of the time (Vortec SBC in workhorse tune) cranking out a whopping 255HP.

I got confused about the image of the (recently re-designed) Grand Cherokee, but the text is about the Cherokee. Even Jalopnik gets it confused. Should be a lesson for manufacturers that completely different vehicles maybe don’t need to share a name?? Looking at you Ford - Bronco and Bronco Sport? Really??

Biased opinion incoming! I’ll never say the 996 interior is great, but I will say it doesn’t photograph well. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s so much better in person. Still dated don’t get me wrong, but somehow pictures make it look like the worst of late 90's plasticky cheapness. There is heft to the buttons

Don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.

We think similarly based on your opening line.

Yeah, who do you think defines that “safety event”? Could that be movement inside a car not moving? That could be someone stealing. How about someone approaching a Tesla in a crowded parking lot? Could be a mustache twirling bad guy, might be someone shopping at Costco. To make the distinction means recording all of

I mean at this point I just figure all Tesla’s are unpredictable. We will NEVER get “full self driving” from Tesla or anyone else. It’s not possible without major infrastructure and legal changes, none of which are even in the early stages of being addressed.

Lots of hate in these comments, and while I mostly agree the idea seems kind of dumb, it just might work IRL. There’s little way of getting the sense of the actual sound through shitty computer speakers and I’m betting there’s much more bass and presence in person. At least I hope so...

You’re right in that you’ll probably never love the interior. But go drive one and you’ll very quickly forget about the interior.

Decidedly old, but my suggestions:

I bet for $5995 you can get a Hytorc GT3, and for $6795 a Hytorc GT3 RS, but the carrying case included in the “base” model is $295 for either of those...

Ha! I was just thinking of a base 1998 S10 I drove between vehicles - and I do mean BASE. You could race anyone and they would have no idea. The gas pedal was an on/off switch - on being making forward progress. 5 speed with no tach, crank windows, AM/FM radio, manual locks, 2wd, 4 cylinders of GM’s finest I-checked-th
