Newsflash; people who can’t tell they’ve been conned surprised when it turns out they’ve been conned.

They control cables that go all the way to the back of the car which control flaps on the exhaust manifolds. “Heat” in these cars is a forced air system that blows air over the exhaust manifolds and routes it into the body.

IIRC, those levers are for the Beetle’s heater, which vents engine heat (no coolant, remember?) through channels along the sills of the car. The levers operate flaps to allow hot air in/keep it out.

Lost her job on November 5th, happened on November 24th. If she is paying monthly, and the bill came up between the 5th and 24th, and she had JUST spent over $500 getting it repaired? I could see her missing a month and losing her insurance. Or just having liability insurance as a cost saver.

Also new wipers and it appears she tore off some weatherstripping, but more importantly I think you may be underestimating the cost/work it will take to fix all the bodywork. I don’t think a paint job will do it. She caved the roof in, stomped on body panels, smashed in the windows, “pried panels,” and those gouges…
