@improprietary: I'm not saying give them cash. I'm saying build them a modest shelter. Build them a water purification facility. Buy them some crops to plant in their garden. Buy them a goat. Put a doctor in their village for a few days. Buy them some medicine.... etc.

What's really sad is that someone making $25,000 per year is wealthier than approximately 90 percent of the world's population. You get bumped to the 99th percentile if you make $50,000/year.
