@johnsonjunk: If the software can save a series of pictures, you can just point it to the dropbox folder. I know you can do this with Yawcam.
@Steven E: I love shutter, it also includes a pretty nice web interface which can be used to shut the computer down, view a screenshot or run a command.
@Say Waaah?: The main reason I turn off my PC at night isn't just because I want to conserve energy. My PC has a PSU fan with blue LEDs, which is distracting when I'm trying to sleep (The computer faces the bed).
