For the most part, faster ram is fine. It's speed will be set by your bios and just autoclock at 1066 anyways. There's some small discrepancies with models and voltages, but like RParkerMU said, Crucial is an excellent resource. (although I would just sort by model so their crapware activeX doesn't run on my machine)

When I worked at Geek Squad, I put a kingston ssd in this dudes old XP laptop and threw windows 8 on it. That sucker flew for a dual core at 1.4 with 2gb ram.
