Oh my god that guy is ridic

I think the child-friendly vibe and pink pussy hats were strategic in exactly that way. I just think it’s also really, really important to acknowledge that these tactics would’t necessarily prevent police violence when the majority of the bodies are black and poor.

This is a good take. It points out how the event and lack of push-back by police reek of misogyny

They don’t need any black people until the next election, when they’ll choose another thirsty moron to make white people feel better about being bigots.

I was at a similarly small event. I don’t think those are being counted in the overall numbers, but they’re no less important; if we’re participating in local actions and politics, local networking and conversations about our local priorities are even more vital than standing in a mass movement.

OMG, that gives me goosebumps! Utterly delightful.

It was exuberant!

Ya the ACLU responded to the vague threat Spicer made in that... display. You can’t even really call it a press conference because he came in, chastised the press, lied 4 times, and stormed off like a goddamned fool. If they think they’re going to keep saying up is down just to show they can, they’re going to be in

Walked the walk, wrote the book, dragged us mere mortals along. I feel embarrassed as a feminist that she has to fight some of this horseshit all over again.

She’s kinda clueless.

I was impressed with America Ferrera’s speech and Jessica Williams’ too, but ANGELA DAVIS.

My hometown in Canada got about 1% out to the event. Not huge, but not bad considering.

You were right- there was a lady who handed out free pink toques! Alas, we kept stopping along the way to talk to neighbors and only got there just as the event started so we didn’t get hats, but were delighted to see the size of the crowd.

What I said what that she was referring to a joke someone else had already made.

The women marching today probably aren’t the same women who told you they were not bothering to vote. We are half the world, not a monolith.

Leaving shortly for my local event, and wishing I’d knit one the those spiffy hats now...

Was going to make essentially the same point about the theory that there are no women and children refugees; this unfathomable, impenetrable stupidity will be the end of us.

He’s one of the “alarmists” (practical people) I follow on twitter

This may sound like special pleading coming from an atheist, but as a secularist first, I think it’s unfair to equate christianity with scientology, because of the depth and breadth of the moral and philosophical contribution to civic secular society and civilization in general of the former. Maybe they both started
