This truck’s condition and age make it NP without a doubt. The salvage title is unfortunate, but if the frame is straight and everything else is in order, it’s still NP.

Here it’s actually pretty complicated. First, there is the concept of no (civil) fault for an accident causing damage, injury, or death. If you smash through a school bus full of nuns, little children and baby kittens, you may lose your license and get sent to jail for having been drunk/stupid/dangerous. But nobody…
I think that if you’re in the scene you’re more likely to be aware of the laws, even if you’re not local. But as I mentioned, the SQ seemed to take the high road here: first, an officer with more experience with the laws was called in to consult before taking a decision; second, a tow home was offered instead of…
This is as it should be. :)
I had a conversation on Facebook about this very event. Let me paraphrase my responses here:
I bought a very clean and solid 2005 Toyota 4Runner this past January, with only 192000 km on the clock. About a month later, I was driving my kids to swimming lessons when a strange grinding noise appeared from the rear end, and on a right turn it suddenly got very loud.
Graverobber, one quick comment about writing style: when talking about currency, the preferred style is "CAD 8,900" (ISO guidelines) or "C$8,900" (Gov't of Canada guidelines). It would also be acceptable to write "$8,900 Canadian" because this is exactly how it is spoken - I see you did this in the title of the poll.
What else do you get from the video?
It's probably just there to ensure that the wheel settles in the center, although if you're on a level surface with the parking brake engaged, it may be sufficient - if less than ideal - protection.
You can see in the video there is a recess in the centre of the top plate where the wheel settles in, but I don't know if it's significant enough.
If you read the details of the demilitarization, you get an idea why they may not be suitable for on-road use:
I just did a quick check in the Montreal area (even though this is not exactly the season to shop for a Porsche) and this is what I found: You can get a tidy 996 starting at $20000, whereas a 993 starts at about $50000 and they're all listed as "collector" cars. How long before people stop buying 993s and the prices…
Aw nuts, I just tweeted the same idea. If he picks this car, can I have the prize?
Pfft, there's a big square steel tube between the two. Nothing will go wrong.
Interesting. I was told that the fire created suction which pulled the ear wax up into the candle.
Serious questions: what is all that crap in an ear candle when you're done? Why should we not use them?
I suspect that bad behaviour and disregard for the rules have a lot do with it as well. It's a problem everywhere. Make sure all of your club members know the rules, and enforce them when you're out.
Wait, that's a game? Cool!
How long until some rich idiot calls Land Rover demanding a helicopter evac because he's turned on rock crawl mode and crawled himself upside down 100 miles from the nearest road?
This guy is a dick and a coward, and I don't want him in my country. If I see him up here, I'll punch him in the face on behalf of all my fellow citizens.
