I will admit, in Depp's case, it's mostly going to be easy to separate the man from the character, as his public persona, or what I saw of it, was always far less interesting than the characters he played.

That year, with the passing of Leonard Nimoy and Christopher Lee, was the loss of two icons that I genuinely felt could have lived forever.
I only saw it the one time in theaters, but I definitely would be more than happy to see it again. It's very good comfort food cinema, which definitely has it's place.
Until just now, I couldn't remember her being in that, and even now, I still can't picture her in it. The Aviator, Blue Jasmine, the LOTR films, Carol, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, there's way more stuff for her to be remembered for.
No doubt about that. Which is why I think it's also weird that Dowd seems to be implying this is a uniquely male problem.
Are all male friendships destined for this kind of gamesmanship? That seems a bit of a bold assertion. I'm not going to deny that this type of relationship does exist with plenty of friend groups. I just have never felt the need to be that hyper competitive with my friends. I've also never really desired to be an…
Thanks for the update. That does make it marginally better, insofar as it means this is more likely that the shooter had an intended victim or victims, rather than wanting to make this a massacre. Still, even that's pretty damn horrible to imagine.
Sounds like a pretty good series to check out. Will have to keep an eye out for it.
The description of characters acting in a way that's more about surprising the audience than the other characters reminds me of The Perfect Getaway. It's a fun film, but the twist relies on two characters acting in a way that really doesn't justify itself given what later happens.
The equation is never about whether a relationship will work or not; only whether the relationship can be judged skeevy or not.
That is horrible to hear. I just can't understand what compels certain people to make the decision to shoot up in large public spaces. No one should have to feel unsafe at something like a concert. I just hope that most of the injuries are non-fatal and that whoever did this will be caught.
Yeah, over the closing credits. There was a large outcry among a certain contingent of people as it was felt to be a sure thing for a nomination.
Cool. I'll likely be there. Do you know about how many people are expected? And will there be any A.V. Club sign to identify people, or will it just be just look for a large group congregating nearby?
According to Wikipedia, she was born sometime in 2001, making her either 14 or 15 now.
I'm intrigued by this, even though I'm only just returning to the A.V. Club after an extended time away in The Dissolve which allowed me to have a pretty big Dissolve Film Crew that's still going even with the death of The Dissolve. I'd definitely like to hear more details.
I actually still haven't seen it. Haven't seen anything by PTA earlier than Punch-Drunk Love, although I do definitely want to see Boogie Nights.
Thank you for this.
Thank you.
Thank you. I'm sure I will as well. Current weather prediction is looking pretty good, so I may go to Coney Island if I have nothing else to do.
Thank you!
