Paradise Killer was easily the best game of 2020.

GOTG being successful gives Square Enix a road to follow AND a studio that’s proven its mettle with a game of that kind. Remember that Square also has that Marvel deal on hand.

I’m not talking about length, but the games’ internal consistencies. Human Revolution is shorter, yes, especially if you do all the side missions on Mankind Divided, but the first title is a generally cohesive experiece (as long as you play the Director’s Cut, at least) and the story is woven in a satisfactory manner.

As I said in another comment, that is a possibility - the most likely result, in fact, but the alternative scenario in which GOTG was successful would have turned the abandonment of Deus Ex into a certainty. Hence my point that GOTG underperforming is a good thing for those that liked Eidos’s previous works.

I can’t really judge Eidos for this, since they’re probably just following orders. But yeah, Square-Enix selling off the IPs they don’t intend to use and Eidos Montreal being taken in by a publisher that’s at least adequate would be great. Sadly, all of that is probably just a pipe dream.

Oof, I can definitely feel for you, then. I generally dislike linear action games (with a few exceptions), so GOTG not getting a sequel is no skin off my back, but I’d imagine this situation to be quite heartbreaking to people who do like both titles.

Yep. It’s even worse because Mankind Divided often feels like half a game - one the developers were forced to trim due to budget and/or time deficiencies. What’s there is really good, don’t get me wrong, but given how much tighter Human Revolution is, I can’t help but feel this was a MGSV situation that the press

I’ll be honest: I’m glad GOTG underperformed, even if only by Square’s completely unreal standards. I am still salty over the cancellation of the Deus Ex sequel, and this might - MIGHT - cause the studio to go back to that franchise. Sure enough, Eidos Montreal’s titles are nowhere near as good as the original Deus

You’re way more forgiving than I am, then; I would definitely have pirated the game, purely out of spite, if that had happened to me.

They DO happen, though. XCOM and XCOM 2 are currently being sold at a discount of 94%, for instance.

Given how many nerds I’ve seen praising that game’s designs, I really doubt that many people are tired.

Given how many people are playing that game, I don’t think “most” people are really tired of it.

As i said in my response to him, I’m not economically disadvantaged, but it’s hilarious that he jumped to that conclusion. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised a corporate bootlicker is also a social elitist.

Regarding the corporations themselves, I criticize them all the time, dude. A quick glance at anything I say on the matter will tell you I’m not afraid of defending that piracy is a valuable tool that consumers shouldn’t be afraid to use. I’d say the same if Sony’s and Microsoft’s fans were throwing a hissy fit in

Lol, poor bitch. I can assure you I’m nothing of the sort, but the fact that you immediately assumed I am economically disadvantaged says a LOT about your worldview. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised a corporate bootlicker is also a social elitist.

It probably had something to do with all the passionate employees leaving, as you mentioned. It’s even sadder because, even during their LONG downfall, there were still moments when Ubisoft actually seemed like they were on the way to climbing back up the creativity ladder. Remember Child of Light (or even the 2D

Hey, some of us still dream of a proper Splinter Cell revival.

How does that corporate boot taste? You seem so intent on licking it.

Just admit you made a stupid comment and bow out. Reacting like this just makes you seem immature and a little bit too salty.
