Must have been pretty dangerous driving that thing for over 20,000 miles with the window sticker blocking side visibility like that.
I liked it. I’m in.
Little known fact... Richard Luntz’s 3rd born was Dany Bahar.
Crack pipe all day long. If you want one of these, you have to get the phase II. The phase I was an evil handling, unpredictable car with snap oversteer. The phase II handled so well it regularly won best drivers car awards in Europe. And much better condition phase II cars are half this price in Europe

I feel a bit cynical about this - it either suggests the car wasn’t fully developed when launched or the development was ‘held back’ to solicit more monies from existing customers later on. Why revisit a car that has been launched and the production run fulfilled otherwise?

As a previous owner of an E39 540i Touring with a manual gearbox, I can tell you that the slow, inert steering is the car’s biggest dynamic failing. For that reason alone, I can’t see this conversion working well. I’d far rather have the LS swapped E39 touring that was on BaT a few months ago. If you’re going to…
I can’t believe it’s the standard seats and chrome window trim that he didn’t remove that’s actually offending me more than all the other really offensive modifications.
For my sports car, I want usable SOUND as well a usable power. Haven’t heard a 4 cylinder engine yet (in a modern, turbocharged car) that tickles the old ear drums the way a V8 (or even V6 to a lesser extent) can.
