Fastest = highest top speed. You're thinking of quickest, which is fastest acceleration.

You answered your own question. "Estimated" top speed. The car hasn't been produced yet. When it's available to purchase, it can earn a spot on this list.

Fast != Quick. The Model S is QUICK (acceleration). This list is about FAST (top speed).

No one is talking about what the speedometer says. Most cars' speedometers are inaccurate at those kinds of speeds. They are talking about verified top speeds.

Yeah, and I doubt a 545i can exceed 160mph delimited. We're not talking about a rinky-dink regular E60. The M5 is a completely different animal.

Anything pre-1999 is significantly smaller. But at 6'6", I have no problem driving my '73.

"The current 550i... races to 60 miles an hour faster than an E60 M5."

BMW offers many of the same perks that Mercedes does. When we bought our 01 M5, we had a two-day all expenses paid (except for travel-we drove our M5 there) event at the Performance Center in Spartanburg, SC. We got to beat the hell out of a fleet of new M5s on their track, take a factory tour, and the second day

My Porsche has red seatbelts... and despite being a 2008 model, no aux input, iPod interface, satnav, Bluetooth, hell it barely has keyless entry. And it's got $15k in options.

Two nominations:

You don't take it to carmax to get fixed. You take it to the dealer, and after you pay the deductible, carmax picks up the difference.

I would pay all of the money for a new hardbody

Yeah. Totally fair article. Charging $17k for that heap should be criminal.

Before reading the article, I have to say that nearly $17k is WAY too much money for that car. Let's see if I still think that afterwards...

From this week's AutoWeek:

Agree to disagree on some points. We do agree that the handling is shit, which is by far what pissed me off the most about my particular MKIV.

That's a fair statement, but I think that the MKIII was better as well. I feel like the MKIV was a particularly weak effort on VW's part.

I suppose I meant general quality of materials. Granted, this is hindsight speaking, comparing my MKV to the MKIV, but whenever I get in a MKIV I am struck by how cheap it feels compared to a MKV or MKVI (Jetta excluded — I just had one as a rental for three weeks and that thing is godawful).

Apologies in advance, since you own one, but I disagree.
