I watched about 30 seconds of the video and realized I know that neighborhood. I grew up about 2 minutes from there — a boring-ass part of San Diego called University City.

It’s a great, great time to be a motorcyclist.

Really interesting to see all the comments referring to “leathers”. People, there is a whole ‘nother world of gear out there beyond “leathers”.

I’ve got a catalog of images that were shot with a 1,000 megapixel camera...in one single shot. No movement, nothing. 1/30th of a second, one shot. You can zoom for days and days and days. A TIFF ends up at...well, big. Almost 2GB and 36,511 by 18,180 pixels at 413ppi.

All the true car nerds will know pretty instantly that that’s T6 at Laguna Seca.

Simraceway F3 cars.

They really are gorgeous cars. Not nearly as nimble as the E30, but so much fun to drive provided they’ve got a manual gearbox. With the Euro bumpers, I think they’re the epitome of the “shark nose” BMW (even more than the E24, although most will disagree).

Hah! Fair comment...dude’s pretty damn cool, though.

What Sean said. She’s real, she’s a model, and she rides. Her husband even owns a couple motorcycle dealerships ;)...

Sean, I noticed you said “Up to LA”...are you down here in San Diego with the rest of us cool kids.

Interesting. I always wear earplugs, so loud is a non-issue to me.

Oh, and I should add that Bell customer service has been absolutely, positively, the best customer service of ANY company I have ever dealt with (save for maybe AAA Insurance).

I’m not worried about a recall, it’s the extended warranty I’m trying to figure out. I have this feeling that I saw some news about them extending warranty coverage on the TDIs, but any attempt to google “VW TDI Extended Warranty” just brings up a million hits about whether or not to purchase an extended warranty...

Fair enough. I don’t remember having any problems riding with the Vortex or RS-1 on my naked bikes at high speeds — including on my old R1200S, which could attain pretty decent velocities — and I have an XL head so I imagine I’m in one of the bigger shell sizes.

I started riding 5 years ago with a Bell Vortex. Upgraded about 2 years ago to a Bell RS-1. I’ve used the Transitions photochromic visor since day one on the Vortex all the way up through the RS-1 and am super, super happy with the combo.

Do you remember what/when they extended the warranty on? My girlfriend’s 2010 JSW TDI has a recurring check engine light due to code P0401 (typically EGR & DPF). She’s at 83,000 miles, so just 3,000 out of the extended 80k coverage envelope for TDI emissions components...or did they extend that?!

OK VW, you have time to fire this guy but you don’t have time to process my $1,000 slush/hush money application? Let’s have those two gift cards...I need that iPad Pro.

From what I understand, the CHP has started migrating back towards H-D bikes in the last two years. It was explained to me by one motor officer as being because of running costs, but that could just be something he was fed by his department...

The /5 and R65 are both fun bikes in their own ways. My first bike was a ‘79 R65 which I bought almost exactly 5 years ago this week. Since then I’ve had a number of other BMW bikes and at the moment I have a 2009 R1200GSA and a 1972 R60/5. They’re all fun, and $1500 for a runner is just fine.

LOL. Obvious troll is obvious.
