This is very true. Every year that the Singapore Grand Prix comes around, the businesses in the malls in the area suffer a major decline in sales because they are now hard to access thanks to the closed roads.

But it’s common sense. Why would you want your bag far away from where you’re seating? What if you need something mid-flight? Or worse, it could be subject to theft.

It seems like only American airlines (and low budget dickheads like Ryanair) do this. Most international airlines have some allowance for check in luggage.

I’ll give a mention to Singapore. The metro is only 35 years old, but the network has grown rapidly and extensively since (and still being expanded) such that it is now incredibly convenient to get to most places by train alone.
