I’ll admit my connection to the industry has only ever been as a consumer or merchant. But the only relationship I’m aware of is isolation between the bank and the cc company where the bank owns everything but the processing.

The vast majority of credit card users have revolving debt and credit card companies are already making a boatload of money off them. But, given the economy of scale, if they make another dollar per month off of a couple million customers, that’s an acceptable profit.
