Poor Gio, though.
Poor Gio, though.
he just jumps over the hype, so people assume that he fades, but he's actually right above their heads
Damn, Burton Cummings really stuck to his guns. For decades. The power of the 'stache.
Fair enough. I'd be surprised Green got anything more than limited minutes as a sub when nothing else is working. Which might happen more than you'd think given the group that the USA is in. But we'll see, obviously. I agree that Green is probably unprepared for significant time in the world cup.
Agree with you about Johannsson. Wanting a 19 year old to commit to your team badly enough to offer them a spot suggests that you think that 19 year old is good and that you suspect he might become really good. I'd probably rather have Green on for a full 90 than Wondolowski, because even though he's raw, he has more…
"Green is not good." Again, an exaggeration. If you're not good at 19, then you don't have much upside. He might not be world class (and he might not fulfill his potential), but I'd still play him ahead of Wondolowski in certain situations. That's like saying Deulofeu wasn't good until he went on loan to Everton…
That's a bit extreme, no? I mean, at worst (if he plays) he disappears and leaves Altidore on even more of an island. It'll really come down to the overlapping play of the wingers, regardless of who the second striker ends up being.
I mean, I agree in theory, but I just see his skillset fitting so well with Altidore's. Maybe it's wishful thinking. I'd be very surprised if Wondolowski gets more than a few minutes total in this World Cup (barring injuries). I like the Yedlin substitution, though.
Ghana will obviously play Kevin Prince Boateng and attempt to break down the USA defense. I expect the USA to thrive on the counterattack and use Bradley as a fulcrum to set Altidore free and allow him to use his speed and power. I also wouldn't be surprised of Green got some time. Hard game to call.
