As someone who bought this and had parents who outright dragged their heels to sign up for any internet service for our home (a year after the ubiquity of cable modems... we got Juno Dial Up), it was one of the most frustrating of purchases I’d ever made in my childhood.

I was raised by a Vietnamese mom, white dad (there’s really nothing interesting from that side), while surrounded by a predominately Hispanic community. I would joke that I eat pho w/Cholula instead of Sriracha. I have adventurous tastes because I was blessed with such a background that forced me to try everything.

This is the most moving rebuke I have read. Your righteous anger, instead of butchering his argument in a fit of rage, proves to the world, with surgical precision, that classbutnostile has no heart.

I type most documents now with Calibri, Cambria, and/or Garamond. I’m glad someone else has a fondness for Calibri.

Mind if I ask what city you’re in? If I can track this down in SD, I’ll be stoked

re: Bank fees. I’m with a local Credit Union, and if I ever need to get some extra cash, I always look for the closest 7Eleven. All 7Eleven ATMs are on the Co-op network so I’ve never been charged $2-3 for a $20 withdrawal.

I’d love to hear more details about this kind of deal. Are we talking larger dealerships or Mom/Pop car outfits?

Late to the party, but this comment caught my eye:

I’d love to hear more about what your dream job is and how your efforts in college opened those doors!

Ugh, I think I agonized over the construction of a few sentences for too long, so I decided to hit publish... without checking to see if I put a few words back where they belonged. Cringing so hard after rereading this.

Short version: Android.

While I know the nomination thread is over (plus I’m voting for Opinel anyways), I figured it’d be good to highlight the Gerber Exchange-a-Blade that I use as my EDC. While we all know how dangerous utility knives in the wrong hands can be, I’m always surprised at the odd looks my Opinel draws while this gets zero

I love my Opinel 7 for the same reason. It’s not an intimidating blade and the carbon blade maintains an amazing edge.

I can’t tell if you’re making a joke about the comments in 2011 or didn’t see the 2nd paragraph of “The Competition.” If the former, then I’ll admit it did make me chuckle. But if the latter... come on.

Several years ago, I had a run in with the law that forced me to move back in with my parents (at the age of 20). A few weeks after the initial arrest/arraignment but a few weeks before my first readiness hearing, my dad and I decided to go shopping at Ikea put in some new shelves around the house. As we walked

I have something similar in my classroom. I have my Anker 5-port charging station (thanks Kinja Deals!) inside a box at the front of class near the printer. If you want to charge your phone, just bring your own USB cable and leave your phone in the box. It helps me keep phones out of hands and students from always

I just noticed this today when I went to deactivate a lost credit card. I normally just misplace things, but yeah, this time it’s plain gone.

Oh man, I just realized that the blade is their stainless steel variety. It’s not a bad steel, but it pales in comparison to the quality of their carbon steel.
