If you look at the video, she had the right of way, and the other vehicle did not. Serena entered the intersection legally and had to hit the brakes when an oncoming vehicle made a left turn in front of her without yielding. She then continued to go through the intersection.

India is less homogeneous than the US, with almost every province speaking a different language. I agree that the problem is systemic and that teachers are unfairly blamed, but “homogeneity of population” is a major oversimplification.

I’m not surprised the suit against Venus continues; it’s far easier emotionally to blame her than acknowledge it was just unfortunate.

Now playing

Nope. All movies should end with Walk of Life!

I’m not sure if it’s an age thing either (I’m 33). But I’m the same way. The only video content I reliably consume from any of these sites or the ones you mention is trailers. I prefer reading for all informative purposes. I read articles from Rachel’s Maddow’s show every day for instance yet didn’t watch her show

I almost never watch — here, Cracked, Buzzfeed, etc — video articles get skipped. Is this an age thing? (IDK how old you are, but I’m 45.) Is it a “I prefer to get my video content from designated video sites” thing?

Welcome Koa! Excited to see what you do and super glad Jezebel will continue to get us through the dumpster fires that make up our current existence.

And The Hulk, and all the various Supermans and Batmans.

Spider-Man. Twice.....

The milking thing was primal Star Wars. It’s indie filmmaker George Lucas making a weird 1970s space movie weirdness. RJ tapped right into that shit.

It’s a... callback?

Have you no sense of fun?

“It was a relief then that Rian Johnson did what needed to be done... I hear those criticisms, but find them easy to forgive in the face of how brave some of Rian Johnson’s choices were.”

I think that knowing that Vader ultimately turned his back on the Dark Side at the end could easily have made Kylo more likely to follow in his footsteps. If we assume Ben Solo started out as a good kid with the best intentions, finding out that his father was this legendary badass - like all young boys want to be -

How many angst teens do you know who have not rebelled against what they’ve been taught? Especially after what Luke did to him, I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned to Vader for another surrogate father figure.

The Force Awakens was very indebted to the idea that “this is a Star Wars movie, these are the things you do with a Star Wars movie”—bad guy with a mask that alters his voice, desert planet, etc. The Last Jedi was more willing to follow the characters down rabbit holes, even if it didn’t match how Star Wars is

Thanks, Игнатий, this is an absolutely essential read.

Honestly I thought his motivation was just rejecting the chaos and uncertainty of what his parents struggled with for the percieved , um, order of the First Order. And given the political cycles we’re living through, I had no problem with that.

Well, Ren seems to be a guy who struggles with using the dark side.  He can’t cut off his emotional attachments.  Probably views Vader’s final sacrifice as a dying failure.

I looked at that Snoke manipulated Ren into believing Ren was the heir to Vader’s true power. And that the power was tied to dark side, something Luke and Leia would never let him tap into. I imagine Ren had some typical issues being raised by the people who saved the galaxy and felt that pressure to be great and
