If racism against Asian-Americans is going to be part of your beat, can I make a request? Can we get Elizabeth Banks to make Pitch Perfect 2 less (or even not, miracle of miracles) racist towards Asians? Totally true, but I think the appeal of autism for this kind of "hell in a handbasket thinking" isn't that it's the worst thing, but that it's the newest thing - as something uniquely and strongly associated with the last thirty years or so, it can be tied more easily to problems the speaker wants to imagine have
