Apparently in our new world order, lawyers are now heroes. And I’m not being sarcastic - they’re out on the frontlines trying to extract people from the nightmarish situations that 45 has created.

Same. What’s even crazier is this statement coming from an immigration officer. Literally everyone they deal with wasn’t born here. I have been coming back and forth between this country and my country of origin my entire life and this is the first time I am worried about international trips I have to make this year.
I’ve worked quite a bit within nonprofit legal organizations. There are a lot of people willing to help a lot of people. It’s a good thing.
This!
What kills me the most about these deportations every Republican administration is how cruel and pointless it is. If they really wanted to end illegal immigration they’d put a single fucking employer in jail for employing immigrants without authorization to work in the US. All this does is scapegoat poor people who…
Most cops became cops to get bad guys, and they will always err on the side of assuming that a maybe-bad guy is a bad guy. And it takes a special breed to go into ICE enforcement, since by definition every arrest you make rips a human being away from his life and family. Yeah, don’t expect anything but quickened…
And probably, too, because your state’s AG has been so out in front of the opposition to the Muslim ban (I can’t even believe I’m having to type that phrase).
Everybody needs to consider that this arrest is not a mistake: it is part of a deliberate policy. Going after the validated and innocent is part of the “shock and awe” doctrine that the Trumpkins tested out during the campaign, and are now experimenting with until they perfect it.
I like the immediate “he’s a gang member” bullshit from ICE. As if that’s not the most racist stereotype they could come up with. A gang member with no prior record of course.
Extra special jackbootery directed at Seattle in particular, I believe, due to our mayor’s statement that our local police would not be assisting ICE. (Which is why I’m confused by that header picture. Our police force is supposed to not be cooperating. I don’t think that photo is of Seattle cops).
Being that ICE has a history of deporting thousands of American citizens, I wouldn’t trust them with respecting DACA status.
That’s what is dawning on me in all this. These agencies are embracing their new edicts because they get to do “their thing”. That scares the hell out of me.

Guess it goes to prove the old saying “if you first don’t succeed at banning Muslins round up every Mexican in sight”.
The fucked up part is that even local LEO’s have to go to continual classes to keep up on the new laws, and go through daily briefings as well. The fact that a federal agency can’t manage this is some fucking amatuer-hour bullshit.
President Agent Orange has yet to dismantle DACA, reportedly because he and his goons can’t figure out a proper way to do it. DACA absolutely remains in force. ICE is just ignoring it in some twisted attempted to please their idol the Russian puppet. This is pure jackbootery.
Considering the colossal screwups populating the current administration, I wouldn’t be surprised if the instructions to ICE were just vague as hell.
Glad a law firm is immediately acting to help this guy and hopefully others like him. I’d rather they not have to help but it’s always refreshing to know there are good people in this world ready to stand up for justice.
“It doesn’t matter because you weren’t born in this country.”
On Friday in Seattle, Daniel Ramirez Medina, a 23 year old immigrant from Mexico with no criminal record was…
