Pittsburgh is awesome! It just gets really scary, really quickly if you drive 15 minutes in any direction.

As long as she is a legal permanent resident I doubt she could be ejected. It isn’t impossible (Samantha Bee talked to one who was) but short of breaking a federal law she should be safe.

Yeah, plenty of them aren’t particularly wealthy. Most of them are large central cities (which by nature usually make them Democratic), but it’s not like these are all or even mostly what I’d consider “wealthy” enclaves. We’re talking about Baltimore, Houston, New Orleans, Hartford, New Haven, Los Angeles, etc...

I’m terrified His tiny hand drumpfness will somehow eject my wonderful mother out of the US. I’m told chances be low but still. She’s a permanent resident. We’re all citizens otherwise. We figure husband plus kids plus grandbaby tie can tether her here.

There are two abortion clinics within 30 minutes of me that never have protestors so you are welcomed too, my friend.

Don’t suppose you guys are willing to take a southern US Asian soon to be unemployed abortion clinic employee...things are getting ugly here!

The mayor of Pittsburgh, Bill Peduto, also put out a really wonderful statement expressing his hard intention for Pittsburgh to be a sanctuary city. I know a lot of you think we’re backwards hicks here but Pittsburgh is really trying.

He would need congressional approval. And while I don’t doubt he could get a majority to support the defunding I really doubt he could get a majority to support deploying federal military to any cities over this.

Jew, reporting in! Guess who has two thumbs, a futon, and endless empathy for a refugee narrative? *this mensch*

I know he’s not American, but you can always count on Vicente Fox Quesada and that #FuckingWall to fill the void.

I wish people understood how hard it is to get citizenship in the U.S. It took a family member 20-plus years to gain citizenship thanks to a lot of red tape. Oh, and she also paid taxes the entire time (green card status!) and loves this country so because it provided her children with a quality education and much

My church is already reaching out to undocumented people to help.

I think continually reminding our reps that we will take down whoever has sided with Trump is a good thing.

My county (Montgomery County in MD) is staying a sanctuary city no matter what and I’m so damn proud of the people representing me right now. I will say it’s a wealthier county so it won’t be hurt as much as some others from the lack of federal funding.

The churches are now going to have to become literal refuges, again. I know the Catholics are ready, now everyone else has to get their asses in gear.

California doesn’t need the government’s money, the government needs California’s money.

Mayor de Blasio decried the executive order as “immoral” and vowed to fight the President tooth and nail.

I know it will never happen, but just once, I would love to hear a politician with some import, be it a mayor of a major city, a governor, or a Senator (and I REALLY would’ve loved this in one of the debates) to just drop a few curse words. Something like, “Fuck that guy. We’re going to remain a sanctuary city, so

Just hide the immigrants and refugees in libraries, H&R Block and sexual harassment prevention classes. Trump will never find them there.
