That makes sense! Occasionally I also have luck.... but I also sometimes end up with pieces that are all too ‘busy’ or too ‘plain’ together. I think I’m heading in the right direction and all the wonderful people here have helped me. I want it to feel inviting, bright and like I’m at a resort.... so I have my… Read more
Thank you for all the ideas!! And the specificity with color and pattern, I greatly need it. I can’t paint the furniture since it’s not mine (and neither is any of the other furniture inside) but I can do things like a table cloth if it would work. I think once I get enough pieces, it’ll look really cozy and… Read more
This is our front yard! We don’t have a back yard, so all our space is in front. But luckily, it’s private as we’re in a small compound with only 2 neighbors. We’re very, VERY lucky that we will have a gardener/maintenance guy as well as a housekeeper to help maintain some kind of order and cleanliness. We’re… Read more
Luckily, we have a spot in the side yard that seems to already have been dug up to plant a garden. We’re about 75 miles south of the equator, so we get year-round sun (mixed with ‘rainy’ seasons).
Yeah, that’s a possibility if I have weight left in my shipment!
I like those ideas! Our windows are not regular windows, so something like a trellis or a planter with tall plants would probably be easier to accomplish. I don’t know if I’ll have weight to put patio furniture in my supplemental shipment (I have to buy baby stuff too) but if I do, I’m definitely thinking something…
That sounds like they’re doing a great job to keep everyone safe! Now that we’re so far into this thing, it’s more about risk management and risk mitigation (because there isn’t zero risk). That’s the exact kind of thinking that will keep us having a semi-normal life in our current situation.
Depending on where you are, that’s may still be true. But I’ve gotten my hair cut twice during quarantine with masks on and had success. Now I’m in Rwanda and there are very minimal cases with an abundance of testing. Mask usage is also very high, so I’m willing to take the risk as long as the other person is… Read more
As soon as I’m free from quarantine, I’m going to get a recommendation for a spa to get a massage. And maybe a pedicure. I need some pampering in my life especially now that I have to be a section head and plan having this kid. In the meantime, I will continue buy a ton of stuff to outfit our new place. New types of… Read more
I have 3 more days of quarantine until I’m free to roam about (without a car though so not that much roaming). After that, I plan on having a glass of wine with our social sponsors or neighbors to celebrate. I’m glad most of the people I’ve been around haven’t been very judgey of my occasional glass of wine with… Read more
Its afternoon/evening here but we woke up late. Doggo seems to be on the wrong time zone or something and keeps wanting to go out in the middle of the night. We’re trying a new strategy today: outside during the day more, possibly a small walk around our compound, and keeping all the animals in the hallway/bedroom… Read more
I can concur with this. I used then professionally before and now have them again for my home. I got a long range one for my apartment because I couldn’t get WiFi to the back bedroom. Now that I’m in a concrete house, I need the 2nd LR one and have linked them together with no issue and have great coverage compared to… Read more
Thanks! Yes, very stressful. But I’m decompressing and relaxing and am so glad we made it.
Our cats are great at adjusting to new places, surprisingly. There’s never any cowering under the bed for hours or days.... it’s right into the exploring. They still end up under beds, but it’s more in reaction to loud noises or.... a conscious choice on a good place to lay. Nyx, the cat pictured, is the more scared… Read more
