I’m doubting my small town in SC is going to be one affected. Imagine Greenville, Columbia and Charleston will all be slammed. Probably even Asheville NC (which, iirc, is a little outside the main eclipse).

Even if the artist/writer/etc tried to make a work apolitical... they have no control over what interpretions the consumer/player/reader/viewer/etc brings with them.
It’s more in the dark wave category. Some good examples of what many consider shoegaze or dream pop similar would be The Cocteau Twins and Jesus and Mary Chain. On mobile so can’t provide links right now, but look up Jesus and Mary Chain’s album “Darklands” it’s full of awesome.
Yeah, the early stuff was all considered “post punk” from Joy Division on, but as time went on, the nature of the scene (pretitous ex lit majors *L*) continued to refine it more and more to niche sub-genres and retro-actively relabeling them. So Souixe and such was originally punk... then post-punk... then Goth... and…
Think the niche genre you’re lookin for is called “Dark Wave”.
Other great stuff in it... Sisters of Mercy are a particular fave of mine. Their album Floodland is some great stuff. The Bahaus are just legendary... but most of their stuff is too firmly in Goth turf or breaks from the synth-ladden aspect of New Wave to…
I think it’s due to a few factors... People are still mad about the cliff-hanger season finale, they don’t like Rick’s submissiveness, and while we’re getting a lot of seeing new places the main Alexandria plot is dragging a bit...
But the biggest factor is that Westworld is stealing a lot of viewers.
I think you just described every episode of this show.
It’s sad to see Inifity go the way of the dodo.... But I’m hoping we get some of their IPs in Lego Dimensions. Two of Lego’s biggest licensed IPs that sale the most building kits (Star Wars and Marvel) were tied up to Infinity.
I’m really hoping that before long, they’ll let Lego use Marvel and Star Wars (2 of their biggest toy lines) in Dimensions now.
I’ve been a big fan of TAL for ages... and, yes some of the critizim is apt, but the show has always been showcasing all aspects of life... not just the sticky-sweet, but darker and more elements as well... sometimes in same episode. From back in the days of Sarah Vowell and John Hodgeman getting a “goth” make-over…
Random Encounters.
I have mixed feeelings about TT, tbh... she’s like Lemongrab, intentionally annoying and creepy. I kinda like both for that very reason, tho... part of the odd characterization used in the show. But when she starts acting like Blanche from Golden Girls, it crosses the typical line from creepy to flat out gross (esp…
Yeah, all of Phase 2 has been insanely dark... but hasn’t felt grim. THAT’s where it differs from DC’s outings. Tony lost his sense of identity, Thor lost his mom and brother (in his viewpoint), Cap lost everything he stood for and Guardians... well... watch the first 5 min of it for all ya need to know.
But, unlike…
So, they'll eventually make a "Crisis on Infinite Earths" 2 part movie to copy the Infinity War MCU deal... but with all their tv and movie properties crunching down into one continuity?
For people who might want some watchables about some of these guys:
Black Panther:
I'm thinking either GoG2 or Infinity War will draw a lot from Annihilation... Xander was set up in first GoG as almost Rome before the fall, almost as if it was setting up it's own destruction.
Blake's 7 still has a soft-spot in me heart... Layered characters who populated the Liberator crew (later Scorpio), I think, set a precedence in tv-scifi. Sure, it borrowed some notes from Star Wars and 70s dystopia flicks, but characters like Vila really stood out from typical sci-fi of the time period (and even now,…
I'm a little late to the convo, but I agree 110%.
I say they should base it more on Ultimate F4. While making them gifted young adults might raise the ire of some 616 die-hards, I think it would make them connect more with the audience... more of a Harry Potter/Enders Game feel instead of the SUPER science we know and love in its comic book cheesy goodness.
Lady Raincorn speaks and reads/writes Korean... Coincidence? Doubtful.
