As someone who has worked with the local police, the sheriff’s department, the FBI and the Secret Service in my capacity as a Site Manager for my then-employer’s client which is a national bank , I can honestly say, why yes, I have heard of the thin blue line (dayum, patronizing and condescending much?!?).

My family had 5 Fiats here in the USA (600D, 124 Spyder, 124 coupe, Brava and my own X-1/9). Ours were perfectly reliable compared to our other cars at the time and were fun to drive own.  I always joke that the US got the Friday and holiday made cars hence the “issues”.

Back then you had to work on a car to keep it running, but at some point in the late 70's, Americans seemed to have lost that ability which is why you also don’t see many American cars from that era around any more.
