Belllllllllch

As I mentioned upthread, I've really begun to appreciate the care that's gone into the re-caps of True Detective's Season 2 over at the-solute.com. The person doing them was one of the first AV Clubbers, and he's been writing very eloquently, analysing the show without an enormous amount of comparisons to Season 1.

Try the-solute.com. They post their re-caps Mondays (I believe) and really enjoy wrestling with what Season 2 is doing.

Check out the-solute.com for coverage that actually respects the material, instead of incessantly comparing it to Season 1.

That would be so cold, and so right. Although I'm fairly certain Hannibal will still have the lead.

Oh God that sounds so much worse.

This response probanly makes the mosmost sense regarding her characterization. Well done.

Upvoted for the phrase "Michael Clayton of Predators" which sounds more fun than the premise ultimately was.

D'oh! Guess I should've done more due diligence with my pithy comment!

Although this is obviously more horrific, less humanistic.

Sort of like Bella, no?

I guess it fits in with her rather ethereal nature. A ghost repeating one action after another before vanishing.

Forgot to mention that upthread. Excellent parallels this episode to the premiere. (All the more amazing that they didn't need to draw attention to it.)

Ha-ha! I completely forgot about that, and it's awesome. Almost a meta-moment there, wouldn't ya say?

Will he?

Agreed on Margot's reaction. Given how Jack was sidelined for most of this episode, we didn't have too many human characters to ground the proceedings, and if not for her, this episode could have easily slipped into a 'horror-camp' type scenario. She brought back the sympathetic element that Will Graham used to have

Not to mention his clear delight in hearing how he was going to be eaten. It was almost as if he and Cordell were swapping recipes.

Ah, I see. Clearly he thought the deed was done after Abigail's assist, though evidently not, following that phone call.

Now I'm remembering Michael Pitt cradling an adolescent pig in Season 2. He always had children, just not the kind that Margot wanted (and ones which he could use to fulfill his sadist tendencies without any remorse or horror…not that it would make a difference.)
