Paul always felt like excess character baggage to the the plot, but damn if I didn't love watching him mow a bunch of people down.

Agreed. In season two I didn't really understand their evolving friendship, but Taryn and Lea play off each other so well. They're both fantastic.

This scene was so tense to watch that I was pretty dulled out by the time Jon Snow died.
