Every game you’ve ever played has a ton of this stuff in it. Games are complicated, and finding tricks and shortcuts to make the game do what you need it to is a constant thing.

This is actually nothing really new. The biggest change here is that they’re actually crediting the companies doing their contract work, but it’s pretty normal for any given AAA title to actually be the work of three or more development studios.
Arnold does real-time licensing from a license server, so what this probably means is that a single machine doing a single frame lost connectivity to that server. It’s... a surprisingly common issue, and usually gets caught somewhere in QA. Either it got missed or they decided they didn’t have time to redo the scene.
Colossus specific components give a hair under triple the health non-specific components give, or a hair over if they’re only health/shields. It’s not hard to have 2k health compared to like, 600 from generic mods.
