I wasn’t one of the ones screaming ‘Misogynist!’ but I thought it was still a bone-headed announcement that spoke loads about how clueless & egotistical he’d become. It was basically that self-described pop culture nerd’s version of crowing to everyone on FB about how he was canceling his account.

He got busted for sticking his head in the Shine-O Ball-O too many times. 

Yeah, I got sick of his schtick long before he pulled that stunt. I can’t say it was much of a surprise, but it was still a bit of a bummer. His interests & mine overlap quite a bit, and it was like finding out this new friend you just met is a secret asshole.

Yeah, I don’t really agree with the premise of this article. Shows like that, which piled on an audience of paid jeerers against what was usually a comically bad ‘bad guy’ is, at best, a hollow catharsis for the viewer. 

That was a shitty take from ol AVGN, but did it actually have any lasting effect on his popularity?
