I hear your words and grok your incredulity, but there really are lots of ways to get a desired result when it comes to people, and lots of ways to get a kid to learn a set of lessons and behaviors. Some ways require a larger time investment than others.
Depending on the kid, there’s also the choking hazard piece. Lots of variables/unknowns here.
