Ahh, I can’t wait. UA has never been a perfect show but it has a wonderful charm and identity that make it really feel like someone’s vision and not focus-grouped pabulum.

“a refreshingly progressive show that explored the dysphoria of adoption”
Well, thank god the Democrats did...umm...absolutely nothing to install some safeguards during their brief window of power. But it’s not as if things could possibly get wor--the Supreme Court did what!?!
I’d say the difference is that the Christian nationalists have gone full “masks off.” They feel confident enough to outright *tell* people what they absolutely plan to do, how they plan to do it, and that they’ll spill blood if we (anyone not subscribing to a bad, third-hand reading of the Bible) fight them.
“but there’s an air of panic and grimness”
Exactly. The Biden administration, other Democrat politicians, and the DNC are the ones in denial - not the voters.
Maybe they weren’t lying and he really was still jetlagged after 12 days. Which is a more terrifying thought.
Biden’s poll numbers were abysmal before the debate. All the debate did was make the Biden campaign and much of the media look like fools for gaslighting the American public and even more foolish telling the lies on why he “had a bad night.”
Yup. Even once he won, my feeling was, “Okay, relax, that was all campaign talk. He’s not actually dangerous and even if he is, that’s what the other branches of government are for.”
I agree about the “we’re so boned” feeling, but I felt that back in 2016 too. Though I have a skewed view since I live in the heart of the South so I basically never feel confident in a Democrat victory until it's evident it's a landslide on election night.
Anyone buying that he wasn’t well rested is just living in a fantasy (not saying you but anyone who thinks that). He was at Camp David for over a week before the debate. He didn’t have a cold, wasn’t jet-lagged, and wasn’t “over prepared” (whatever that means). He’s simply elderly and in mental decline.
Unfortunately that’s just the way prime time TV works (though yeah, 7 is a valid option). And also unfortunately, it’s gonna do nothing against allegations if they come out and say “hey can we move this up? Grandpa is worn out”
Additionally, I never had the feeling in 2016 that if Trump lost his supporters would try a fucking armed coup.
Possibly unpopular take?: It doesn’t feel like 2016 again, because IIRC there was a general sense then that of course Trump wouldn’t actually win and even he seemed surprised that he did.
Here’s the thing: reassuring your nervous supporters that the debate was “one bad night” shouldn’t be complicated at all. Just get the candidate in as many live, unscripted situations as possible to prove that he can still think on his feet and still has the stamina to campaign. Schedule a live, one-hour town hall…
Yeah, but fridges make that crappy white, soft ice. It melts in like two seconds. Those chips were clear and pure. Good commercial ice like the good Lord intended us to enjoy.
I’m digging this season (more than many, seemingly) but I thought this episode went a little long.
Of course I’m also speaking as the guy who says “Nah, I’m awake, I’m watching” as my eyes are sliding shut.
I just couldn’t believe it ended withOUT her, y’know, having a baby.
Absolutely braindead take. If all you care about is plot, you should save yourself a few hours and read the episode summaries on Wikipedia instead of watching the show.
Right on the timing. They demonstrated the Nat/Syd connection with the omelette. It’s hard to make friends as an adult but I feel like when you do it’s swift and powerful. There’s real love between them, not least fueled by being caught in the storm of Carmy together.
Just a timing note. I don’t think that Natalie has a known Syd for even two years at this point, has she? The Bear has only been open a couple of months. Syd only worked at the Beef for a few months before they discovery the money and decide to open the Bear. They have an extremely compressed build out…
