Saw this on Netflix, so I didn't exactly view "Tangerine" in a true cinematic venue. While I was amazed to discover that the film was created on iPhones,I found the cast truly engaging, and the image of LA street life vivid, but not at all lurid, or overly melodramatic. Gimmick, or not, "Tangerine" succeeded.
