One thing I learned (almost by accident really): pay often but don’t pay in full. Leave at least a few dollars owing each month. So if you owe $150, pay $145. To a point, I have to agree with you - understanding the basic idea of development to me, is more important than knowing all the intricacies of a language. I would add though that once you are “proficient” in more than one development language, new languages become that much easier to get onboard.
