Seemed like a classic Jon Snow battle plan to me...

It’s called Game of Thrones because that was the name of the first book and they didn’t know if there’d be a second season. The books don’t make it clear that the reason for the whole thing is to decide who sits on the throne at the end. There may not even be anyone sitting on the throne at the end.

For people who hate seeing zombie battles, this wasn’t too bad. I certainly didn’t see much.

Staging a horse battle at night is probably pretty dangerous, too. Wights are people, too (at least, they’re often played by people).

Even the line was what I was expecting, though I thought it would be “your brother and your friend whose family I burned to death.”

The “night before the battle” is a pretty classic war-movie theme. Nobody would be happy if they just nodded and said ‘sup, and then fought the battle to decide all of humanity.

This sounds like a great idea. Our bodies are mostly water (except bones which you don't want to lose) so weight alone seems like a faulty measure that can fluctuate easily.

The thing I found bizarre about this episode was how everyone had a sense of urgency except Michael and Spock.

“My money is on Martin having a much less clean situation in King’s Landing as the drama is going on up north, but I’m curious if anyone can figure out how he could reasonably get from Point A to Point B with all of those threads.”

I would have loved it if Lyanna Mormont had said that!

How did she feed them on Dragonstone? In Mereen? I’ve been wondering how she fed these armies ever since she got them.

(assuming Daenerys even believes his brother and the guy whose family she set on fire)

The Targaryans have a special incest exception in the books (seriously, look it up!). Kind of makes it really convenient that Jon’s one of them, doesn’t it?

Funny, my thought was how Daenerys will take it. “So your brother and the guy whose family I set on fire say you’re the rightful heir instead of me?”

I was half dreading this series because I can’t stand zombie shows/movies. So far, so good.

The whole “I had his father killed” wouldn’t look good if it all played out for her, as well.

There was a scene early on where Robert asked Jaime the Mad King’s last words. Jaime replied, “he said the same thing he’d been saying for hours, ‘Burn them all.’” That sort of shut down the room. The show makes it clear that he did the wrong thing for the right reason, but even if it was justified it’s understandable

I read this series a year or two ago (didn’t know the last book was just recently translated)! I think it moves at a much better pace than ASOIAF, with far fewer “main character walking around” chapters, and not many story lines that just go nowhere.

I’d go with Daenerys dream/vision - the Red Keep will be in ruins (probably destroyed by her dragons) and the Iron Throne will be empty. It will still be winter, and Daenerys burned most of the food that Kings Landing needs to survive it.

Game of Thrones was the first of several books. It was won by the Lannisters.
