I don’t care how “tough” you are, there is always a weak point or trigger that could push you to a point of no return. Maybe it’s incurable cancer, you’re laid off and on disability and can’t work like before and feel worthless, etc, etc.

Ehh..I don’t think it’s a reasonable generalization in my opinion. Drugs were on the rise in those Disco clubs. I can counter every “good” point with as stark a bad one: Jonestown Massacre, John Lennon killed (1980), cities having some of the highest rates of crime ever, rampant Inflation.
