The school is not very religious nor autocratic. They were probably shocked that people bothered to check them on their bad practices, which I elaborate on in a seperate comment. There’s an issue on sex every year here, with stand alone articles popping up sporadically—this particular one was just handled poorly.

Everyone who chalks this up to being Catholic is wrong. Catholics at Saint Peter’s are a minority; our Jesuit identity is mentioned occassionally, but Saint Peter’s is one of the most liberal Jesuit schools.
