I would welcome this at Saint Peter’s. The puff pieces are ridiculous here: One article was titled 7 Ways to Stay Warm in the Winter (the answers were warm food, blankets, beanies, coats, staying inside, sweaters and cuddling). The school is not very religious nor autocratic. They were probably shocked that people bothered to check them on their bad practices, which I elaborate on in a seperate comment. There’s an issue on sex every year here, with stand alone articles popping up sporadically—this particular one was just handled poorly.

So people jumped to the conclusion that we’re a repressive Catholic school based on the fact that we have to take 6 credits of Theology???? That’s two fucking courses. I have to take 6 credits of a social science, art/music, science, math, history, philosophy and theology (the course not mentioned is World Religions)

The operative words in your post are “in my time.’ I would be the first to praise the previous editorial boards; in fact, as a freshman, you interviewed me about a story on birth control that was published without any fanfare (at our so called “repressive Christian school” *rolls eyes*). Yes, and Saint Peter’s is even more liberal than those schools.

Everyone who chalks this up to being Catholic is wrong. Catholics at Saint Peter’s are a minority; our Jesuit identity is mentioned occassionally, but Saint Peter’s is one of the most liberal Jesuit schools. At the annual meeting of all Jesuit schools, Saint Peter’s is the only one to routinely send students of color
