I like the unpredictability of James Delaney. Real people contradict themselves all the time, why shouldn't fictional ones?
So I guess Nathan was actually a step up for her…
In an earlier epi she made a comment about the way he smelled so it seemed like it would be key to her IDing him. Seems like it would have made more sense if he'd fallen against her in the altercation at the top of the steps and she'd reacted to both the smell and sight of him.
Calling him a "garden variety asshole" makes him sound like someone who's rude to the barista instead of the violent, predatory rapist and serial abuser he actually was.
Thought there would be more women dressed as Elvis and men dressed as Audrey. Guess fictional Monterey folks don't know how to mix it up.
I had the close captioning on and right after Jane leaned in to smell him and he said something like "this is odd" there was a cut to the next scene and the cc read "gunshot."
In the "what did I miss" category…
Hasn't it been pretty clear since episode 1 (from the police interviews) that Madeline is the murder victim? Or is everyone thinking there will be another murder?
Is there any question the picture Madeline pulled up on her computer of Jane's possible rapist wasn't Perry? Madeline would…
It looked like some sort of Tae Bo hybrid
Damn, thanks, I knew she looked familiar!
But didn't she shove him in self defense?
This review is filled with bitterness, even for AV Club. For me, much of the cheesiness of season one was left behind—season two got real. I don't doubt the current political situation in the US influenced my viewing experience. I was deeply moved by the scene near the end between Juliana and The Man.
They were building Will/Alicia as a meaningful love relationship but they brought them together as a mere sex hookup. I don't get the shift and it's disappointing. I don't think their sexual chemistry is their best chemistry. I'm only watching this like 5 years after it aired. Echo…..echo….echoooooo…
This was the best season in quite some time with some authentic-feeling human connection and growth happening (naked mud wrestling at the opium hippie commune aside). After season 5 I thought it had totally run out of steam but now I'm happy to hear it's been renewed.
Overall just way too many men falling in love with Carrie this season. The "love" scenes in this series are an embarrassment.
Why do you think J didn't grant "sexual favors" in order to get the job? The guy unzipped his pants and then said, "Do you want the job or not?" And the next day she has the job.
