After Soon-Yi I have never watched a Woody Allen movie. And I never will.

I’m sorry those stories are yours. I have similar stories. Being assaulted by a Navy doctor during my gyno exam when I was 17, random men grabbing my breasts on the streets, crotch grabs by hockey players at a frat party, almost being gang raped at another frat party, fondled by a coworker on the stairway, leered at

FB is the worst. It shows me pictures of my dog that died from cancer and my ex-husband regularly. Like I want to relive those memories.

Agree about Bill Maher. It’s uncomfortable to watch him berate his audience because he didn’t get a laugh. And god forbid they groan at something - he will really go off on them. Makes me never want to see him live, although I watch his show because he gets some pretty good panels on there.

Needs more stars.

I have to tell you, this is the most amazing response I have ever gotten. You have reduced sexual abuse to both evolutionary selection AND victim blaming. Well played, sir. Well played.

It’s like when we get to claim that sweet, sweet rape victim status. Can’t wait for mine!

I came here to say this! I have a hard time making it though the first one, not sure why I would want 3 hours of a second one. I also love sci-fi, and think PKD is amazing. Of course, the movies based on PKD works never actually follow said PKD works. Blade Runner really didn’t even resemble “Do Androids Dream of

This needs more stars. My therapist assures me that there are non-abusive men in the world. I have not yet met them. But I have hope for a relationship where you get all of the good stuff with none of the abuse.

Why are men so terrible? What the ever-loving-fuck is wrong with them? Is it because they can get away with it? Would women act the same way if put in positions of unlimited power with no accountability? Is this the human condition, or limited to those with a Y chromosome? I think science had better start coming

A million stars for the Cher video. Back before I was very tired of this shit (around age 7) I used to LOVE watching Sonny and Cher. She was gorgeous. And those Bob Mackie gowns...oh my god. I could die.

While I agree with you, it sure would be nice to have more reasonable voices around us. I don’t think Mr. Rogers would say, “Well, boys and girls, this is the price we must pay for freedom” as he puts on his sweater.

Wishing you well, also! :)

Thank you for the Mr. Rogers quote. I can’t tell you how much that means to me right now.

My response to velvet cloaks and new vibrators: yes, please.

I totally agree! When I learn something here, it sticks with me. I loved following your and Holly’s thread here, BTW!

“How dare she not play the game? She should be all painted up and competing for MY affections, just like all the other girls”

That thread on the Hef article was fascinating. I had never thought about it before, and I did not understand the depth of the blonde = beauty illusion.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others.

And that is why I am divorced.
