Cookie’s summation is spot on: the show’s pacing is its biggest detriment. This season has been better, but not by as much as I had hoped. Fingers crossed for a stronger season 3.
Maybe there will be fewer lens flares in the future...

this thread made me laugh more than it should have
Marcus was the best part of this episode! Still waiting for someone to comment who he is a parody of. The square face, sweater vest... he MUST be modelled after a tv detective or something.
I definitely have witnessed/experienced the kind of collective frustration the girls show toward Heidi. It’s not productive, but it’s hard to recognize that’s what’s happening when you’re in it.
Also thank you Madam-o for reminding how friggin amazing “Big and Loud” is. Going to youtube that shit right now.
I agree that the show did have some legitimately laugh-out-loud moments, and initially I thought the grade was too harsh... but I have to admit the episode did seem rushed and unfocused. I think this would have done better either as two separate self-contained episodes or maybe a two or three part episode series.

I agree that this episode has some third act issues, and I could have done without the NFL subplot all together. Having said that, the little tardigrades wearing NFL fan gear was my loudest laugh of the episode.
I think this review is generous. Personally, I felt this was the weakest episode so far. Yes, the story was self-contained, but the writing fell short. Everything felt half-done. I agree that characterizing Michael as a social misfit feels lazy. Having Mudd go from sadistic murderer to comedic relief at the end…
I’ve been rewatching TNG over the last year (referring to my Larry Nemecek companion guide along the way like a good nerd), and by a fluke watched The Gambit episodes over the weekend! Probably would have enjoyed this week’s Discovery more if it didn’t have such a familiar yet rushed plot. Really wish the pacing of…
As a recovering Catholic and lover of paranormal films, I was pretty disappointed in the last season. I didn’t care about the characters (except maybe the badass nuns). I too was surprised this show was brought back, but so far the season looks promising. Wish there werr weekly reviews here.
I too missed Lucifer! I’ve been sucked into the Lucifer+Chloe will-they/won’t-they drama. I really enjoyed the anti-climactic “do you have gas” bit. Glad the show doesn’t take itself too seriously.
