I think at this point its one of those things that exists solely to perpetuate itself. Aggrieved white people buy a lot of stupid shit from other people that are telling them they are right to feel aggrieved.

As a white guy, all I can say is they try to train you up to be this way from a young age. I was probably 8 or 9, attending an all white school in an all white town, the first time an adult thought it was appropriate to get me agitated about affirmative action. White bitterness can be a helluva drug.
