Great username by the way. Probably my fave sci-fi book of all time

Totally agree with you. The Leftovers may not be perfect and may not provide us with satisfying answers to its mysteries but it is a damn beautiful thing to watch and get sucked into.
Good call, I noticed the paypal connection to the season 1 episode where Nora visited Holy Wayne (I believe someone mentioned this in one of the comments below as well). Love the little easter eggs/subtle callbacks to previous episodes.
Hah! Just gonna say it though, not into the whole awkward teenage crush story line. Maybe it'll become important later (haven't seen all the episodes yet) but I find it to be the least interesting plotline so far. And I actually do find Michael intriguing as a character, just not in this context.
Agree with you completely, this show is so well done and compelling to watch that I don't really care about the overarching mystery/mysteries themselves (though they are fun to discuss on these message boards). I keep coming back to the show to see how these characters cope with everything around them - I think their…
Really enjoying the reviews by Joshua; huge upgrade over last season's reviewer (she who shall not be named). I have a different take on Ghost Patti - I think her deal is similar to the voices that Kevin's father was hearing in season 1, voices that presumably belonged to dead people or maybe even to people who…
Newcomer to the show hence late commenting. Sorry if someone already commented on this before but I thought it was a nice touch when John's son set up in booth #121, recalling question #121 from Nora's survery.
Hah! Seriously though, what's with the Perfect Strangers obsession? That is the coolest mystery of the entire show IMO. I hope Lindelof has the decency to solve that one for us.
I think you hit the nail on the head in your analysis. I don't think we need to know what the departure is/was in order to appreciate the show, though the mystery is really interesting to discuss. The emotional impact of the event itself is evident in every character, some more than others, and for me that makes for…
Agree with you, I was totally bummed the entire comments section had been shut down as I had plenty of good things to say about "The Garveys at Their Best." Weak sauce, AV club.
Agree with you completely. The emotional weight of that opening scene, as well as many other scenes in this episode, seem to have been completely missed by the reviewer. I appreciate the fact that AV club reviews tend to be peppered with the reviewers' personal opinions and I know she's got a job to do but these…
I couldn't agree with you more; I find this show incredibly depressing. Something about it just punches me in the gut during every episode - I think the production team does a great job of creating a fictional town/people/society that seems like it could really exist - and I frequently find myself thinking how I would…
Newcomer to the show, big fan of these discussion threads (not so much Sonia's reviews themselves - though I guess they foster good discussions so she's got that going for her, which is nice).
I watched all 18 episodes over the past 2 weeks and was pretty bummed when it ended. Way more bummed than when other shows like Breaking Bad, The Shield, The Wire, etc. ended - mostly because I felt it was cut so short whereas those other shows seemed to end at appropriate times. But I am really glad to have…
Another future reader here. Weird meeting all you other future readers in what is currently my present, which makes you past readers.
