Great article, and I was hoping to see one on Kotaku today. I’ve been collecting Pac-Man merch since I was 6, and have over 400 items. Some of my favorites are an un-opened, in box, container of chewable vitamins, 2 prototype Atari cartridges, and a ring with my initial that was a cereal box send-in prize.
Username checks out.
I love those ‘80s “collectible” restaurant glasses, they used to be in everyone’s houses. It still looks nice with faded colors.
Third partys lack the straight up funds to really pull a league with legit prizes and massive promotion off. Even with all the hiccups and blunders, OWL is the first esports league to actually gain a foothold in mainstream markets.
For instance I always played Tracer, well that is practically impossible now without a team. Because of the having to select a role - damage roles are routinely <10 minutes queue, while support and tank are both always less than a minute. I get the reasoning and I will play other roles from time to time, but man if…
Play Paladins.
I think Jeff said something like 30ish options? But he mentioned “fall back” and that sold me. Not that anyone will listen to it. The closest thing now is to just spam the all-purpose, “Group up with me!”
There’s just something about getting onto voice chat—which really has nothing to do with other people being toxic…
Cool. Now they can start disabling “thanks” as an option for a losing team after match completion for all those fuckwads in silver who think they’re Carpe and think the other five team members held them back from carrying.
Same on both points. I’m not buying either until they have at least 5 games that I want that I can’t get elsewhere.

I got a strip of holographic mirrored tint that flares up when assholes behind me in a lifted truck or idiots running with the high beams are on. Quite fun watching them cycle through the lights to get it to stop reflecting in their face.
Any time I drive at night I wind up having to flip up my rear view mirror at least once to try and avoid being blinded by some terrible headlights of the people behind me.
See, that’s what you’re doing wrong.
Its because you ruin the experience for newer players in an already brutally tough game to learn and play. Those new players will abandon the game if all they're playing against is smurf accounts where their competition has thousands of hours played.
The game is designed around the idea that players will at least be familiar with a few characters. You can’t master them all, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask that people play more than one character.
You’re not effective in any role in competitive if you can only play one character, or even just a couple.…
A Tweelman, if you will
I wonder if the stiffness of that thermoplastic material changes over time and with temperature, especially under the heavier loads of a big rig? Also, I’m skeptical about the ability to put chains on those when needed in the winter.
Looks like they reinvented the wheel.
