A game doesn't need to be AAA to not be indie

There are no benefits to decentralization so long as it relies on centralized servers and services to function. All gaming NFTs would still require a link to game servers in order to function. Something as large as a game can’t be stored on the blockchain, and any online functionality would require linking to the

I think the only case where NFTs make sense would be an open-source game, where the is no centralized authority running the servers, but you want a way to validate in-game item ownership. The problem is, that’s still just a way of perpetuating BS artificial scarcity in games, and turning a pastime into a skeevy resale

A centralised database could do the same and since whatever the token represents is not on the blockchain you’re still beholden to centralised infrastructure anyway. You get all these crypto bros talking about shit like smart NFTs and how you can have gear that levels up that you can sell and trade (because it’s not

I’m just here to see people clowning on cryptobros, and so far I’m having a great time.  Keep it up.

It’s so funny to think about how it seemed outrageous at the time, but nowadays, the idea of paying a couple dollars to get some armor for your horse seems totally reasonable. There’s no gambling involved, no subscriptions, no fictional currencies, no pyramid schemes, you just trade a few bucks for some armor.

What’s funny is, I thought the OPs comment was pure parody and replied in kind. Then I looked at his post history...turns out he’s serious. Jokes on me I guess.

Thank you, Charles Ponzi.

‘Tis better to remain silent and let John Walker paint you as a fool, than to hop on the NFT train and prove him right.”

You know, I actually felt a little bad for him after the RPS interview shamed him into obscurity. While he deserved the direct criticism, I always felt his grandiose claims were more a problem of saying the initial idea notes on a game before the reality of development forces things to be scaled back and not outright

The NFT stuff isn’t being driven by consumer demand. It’s being driven by executives who think it’s going to be a goldmine of revenue generation like Madden or Fifa cards

Apart from Kickstarters, video games are all supply-driven. No one took a poll about whether gamers wanted this. There are literally thousands of unwanted shit games on Steam that lie dead or dying, because no one but the developers or publisher thought it was a good idea.

“Have you noticed Galaverse?”
“What? No. A bit?”
“It had Peter Molyneux on it.”
“I don’t, um-”
“Chad...are we the baddies?”

I can't wait until Star Citizen gets in on the Blockchain game. Their ship purchases are practically NFTs already.

I had to double check before writing this that he hadn’t already done some NFT shit because it seemed so much like a thing he would already be a part of.

Every gamer...
