I think electing a terrifyingly self-absorbed reality star to the highest office in the land sets a FAR more dangerous precedent. The framers embedded this flexibility *precisely* to allow electoral voters leeway to save us from these sorts of abberational horrors.

I must not be understanding this correctly. I thought that if Republican electors voted for people who are not Trump then it would eat into Trump’s number. So yeah Hillary’s number wouldn’t get bigger but wouldn’t Trump’s number get smaller if votes were pared off to another person?
