Last night, I was at a college hockey game where the pep band played “Rock and Roll, Part Two” as the startup music—right after spotlighting a group of elementary students at center ice.
My girlfriend freshman year of college (Whoo! Ten years ago!) was a big Jhonen fan. As in, Johnny/Edgar slashfic and DeviantArt fandom. She handmade me a plush Mini-Moose that squeaked. (I was a Zim fan, and later picked up Squee! and the Fillerbunny series.)
I thought of Triumph for the first time in years today, so this is an odd coincidence. Specifically, I recalled the line “Philip Glass? Atonal ass!” from “I Keed.” The songwriter(s) must not have listened to much of Glass’s music…
