I'll admit that I liked the gimmick poster with reservations—some of the turns of phrase weren't quite what he probably would've written, based on the many albums of his I've listened to. (I hoarded loads of bootlegged Wesley Willis MP3s I found online a while back.)

The flies are a bit much, though I imagine he did have quite an olfactory aura.

They're atoning for L— P—.

I somehow came across a signed CD-R of one of his later albums at a Virginia Goodwill. I was already a fan, and finding something he likely sold himself and probably touched far away from Chicago was a pleasant surprise.

Twenny-dollar bill, I can set you straight
Meet me on the corner, boy, 'n' don't be late

Ah. Sorry for the misreading.

I was listening to Wesley's album New York, New York during the drive to work today. I'm glad to see he still finds his way into pop culture.

The word "joyride" in one of the panels is a tipoff. Wesley Willis called his good experiences—when he wasn't having schizophrenic episodes—"joyrides," or even "harmony joyrides."

Hopefully the bike valets won't misplace his ticket after the Aladdin Theater show.

LEAVE THE BRONX

@avclub-487cf32249fbaaa5a79258e26d54fe19:disqus : Sadly, no. My username managed to squeak by under the max-characters limit when the site switched to Disqus, and that's as far as it can go. Besides, I like that the name is bookended by "Bob…by Digital."

"We Are Young" is surprisingly unwieldy as "Nosotros Somos Jóvenes."

When Budweiser had the Platinum rollout ad with Kanye West's "Runaway," I so wanted someone to edit the soundtrack to include the line "I sent this bitch a picture of my dick."

And it leaves that weird film on the hard palate.

And there I went, catching up on over a year of Kate Beaton comics, remembering my mild-Internet-celebrity crush on her four years ago.

I lived in Squirrel Hill too late to see Mr. Rogers. I did live across the street from Allderdice High School around the time Wiz Khalifa presumably went there, though.

THE ONLY GOOD BOTHAN IS A DEAD BOTHAN

Oola-la!
