MEAT - no doubt helps to absorb some bumps. TBH the Lotus platform and driving experience was not as rigid and uncomfortable as one expects

For a simple car ($20K at 3% interest, 0 down, 60 months) - a $2k service plan costs an extra $180. OK so that point is moot at low interest rates
Shame on me for not doing the exact math, however the biggest issue I see with maintenance plans is rolling in that extra cost to your financed amount. Now you are paying 1-5% interest on a larger amount for what amounts to TWO services over 30K miles for modern cars. Fluids, tire rotation, brake pads if you are lucky.
Non-nav screen is all the rage in enthusiast used car markets (think slicktop!) - that ship sailed long ago but glad Nissan is still carrying the torch!
Yeah, I definitely need a weekend toy to drop an S65 into. Add it to the list of potential BMW projects.
This is where I realize I now own three cars purchased used. I have a buy new and hold til I die candidate but I first need a European address - looking at you BMW G series touring.
Suggestion - craigslist wheels + new tires. I bought a set of OEM BMW wheels in the correct fitment for dirt cheap and added new winter tires. Came in at $800 mounted and balanced.
Bravo - now go look at the Mazda CX3 or this other CUV mess and realize it has less (or equal) room compared to compact cars 25+years older. Cars keep getting bigger on the outside yet we are starting to go backwards with rear seat space.

More and more these CUVs feel like raised coupes rather than raised hatchbacks. That back seat is laughably small for an adult (just like the CX-3) and barely seems up to carseat duties.
All jokes aside - if Mercedes and Audi can make a case for uberwagons perhaps someone will start building in the mid-luxury USA segment again as well (ahem BMW G series).
There are a lot of ways to make money - cranking out jelly bean hybrid, under powered and tin cars is one way. I have no brand loyalty, being the only game in town sounds like a reasonable bet to me.
A sincere tip of the hat to whomever is letting the engineering team run wild at Hyundai, some of the most exciting new platforms to come out in years! I wish other brands would take notice
Good for you. I cannot say so for the 10-12 idiots I witness in the ditch every mild storm - even on my short 15 minute commute. Nor the neighbors that fail to get out of their un-plowed driveway and need assistance to gain traction or pull/push them along.
BMW leases lost their status symbol to Teslas a long time ago in California, only natural that it is spreading.
Here in MN you absolutely are well within the perfect use case for WINTER TIRES. Stop calling them snow tires, your all-seasons are useless once temperatures drop below freezing - as they have been for two weeks already!
Holy grail spec indeed. It’s a shame that those who purchase new often want a fully-loaded barge versus the stripper value pack!
I have certainly experienced lengthy delays, hours on the tarmac, missed connections (where it was supposed to be the same exact plane) and smelly compartments.
Always classy.
My wife has a strange desire to own a GT-R at some point in her life, glad to know its not the worst depreciation decision. Consumables (and early transmission aside), seems to be the most level headed idiotic car idea we have had.
