I drove one up to 100mph, definitely got scary when I hit a small bump.

Pass on the Beat, unless you’re over six foot, I’d go with the Cappuccino every day of the week. Also, the Suzuki F6A 660 was produced in much higher quantities than the Honda Beat’s engine.
The Cappuccino is so much better than the Beat. The Honda feels underpowered, has a ton of body roll, but a much roomier cabin. The AZ-1 has the best handling, in my opinion, but has a tendency to snap oversteer.
I’ve never really had anything stolen in my life, well until I bought an Integra. They found it though! The thief left me a pack of CD’s and some nice new speakers. Thanks!
Yep, I work with the dealer!
Maybe with some wider tires in the rear!
I just got this one a few weeks back. So much fun!
Hah, nope! I help out at SODO MOTO in Seattle. They have three Mazdaspeeds coming over the next month or so. I bought mine last year from them, great company to work with.
My 93 LS was stolen 2 weeks ago!
I have three AZ-1’s coming in by February.
A Pao would be a great daily, plus they came from the factory with a 5-speed. I have seen manual swapped Figaros at auction, but they’re exceedingly rare. I also have yet to see a truly nice one, they’re quite fragile cars.
It’s a great car, easily the most DD-able out of the three. Plenty of leg room, and the car screams at 9k RPM. 3-cylinder NA with ITB’s! That said, it deserves to be in a place where you can drive it top-down all the time.
I imported the Autozam AZ-1 you guys shared from BaT few months back. Thanks for the Jalopnik bump, by the way! I brought that car to Monterey Car Week and had a blast. Even won some awards.
Might be possible if you remove the seat cushion. I would also suggest getting new mounts for the seat. There’s easily another inch or room for it to go back.
I built the car starting in 2008. Finished the drivetrain and body in 2012 but it got pushed to the sidelines. February will be my 10-year anniversary having owned the car, I hope to have it painted TME red by then.
I’m 5'10" and fit quite comfortably. 6'5" is a stretch, mainly for leg room. You can get a lot more vertical room by removing the seat cushion. The seat rail could be modified for an extra inch, too.
That’s my car! I bought it from a fellow in June and took it around to as many car shows as I could this summer. Such a fun little car, I’m only selling it to fund my other projects. You might notice something in the second photo :)
Too bad he didn't have a bat!
Good application for a steering quickener!
I’m going to be camping at Laguna Seca Thurs-Sat, any other Jalops going to be there?
