The thing we’ve definitely learned from this saga: Majors only makes one face when he knows he’s getting his photo taken, and it’s really stupid.

I guess you can do that when you look like John Stamos.
Honestly, I think they’ve probably all but finalized their solution to this issue already and will probably announce sometime in the next few months. Even if Disney could have done something demonstrating some actual moral aptitude, I think it’s fair to say they’ve handled this way better than WB handled Ezra Miller.…
His lawyer really muddied the waters with this one. I remember it being said that he was the victim (as mentioned in this article) because she was upset he was breaking up with her. And also that she had no scratches on her when they parted, and then she went clubbing and got all messed up there and Majors saw her the…
John had a right to be so demanding. He had just done a movie with Gene Simmons and Vanity. I’m sure Hollywood was knocking down his door.
Full House was the worst of the early line up. I could tell even as a child. Compared to Perfect Strangers, Family Matters and Step By Step, it was the corniest thing on there. And TGIF was basically one big cornfield. I don’t know how Dinosaurs survives on there for three years. It got a lot worse when the lineup…
I’m with you on this. There’s a peace that comes with not owing any money on anything. The market can tank-and all those gains can be wiped out in an afternoon. But you still gotta make your payments.
Nah. Most “financial advisors” are scammy salespeople who would tell you to mortgage your mom’s house if they thought it would deliver them more AUMs to collect a 1%+ annual fee on.
I suspect that for most people who usually have enough cash on hand to buy a new car, the decision is not particularly weighty. If your net worth is $2 million and you generally keep $100k in cash at all times, the decision on whether to borrow at 5% and put $50k in an S&P500 index fund for 5 years or pay cash for a…
After reading years of comments like that on here. I agree. A bunch of well off bros telling people that need a reliable car that taking out a car loan is worse than murder.
Car buying advice I overheard at a party:
The worst thing about “only pay cash” isn’t even the advice itself. What sucks about that advice is that it only works for people who ALREADY HAVE MONEY. Most Americans live paycheck to paycheck. The problem there isn’t with most Americans. The problem is with the paychecks.
I once read a column in Road & Track where the author talked about all the cars he used to have, and someone had commented that he’d be a millionaire had he kept them. His response was HAD he been a millionaire he would have kept them.
Personally, I financed (admittedly at 0%) because even just collecting interest from my savings account was more profitable, and it was advantageous to have the cost of the car liquid for unforeseen expenses rather than tying it up immediately.
Oh, I am absolutely not saying that ABS shouldn’t be on every car and that the world isn’t a better place with ABS or that the average person has even an inkling of a chance of understanding how to perform better than an ABS system. Modern ABS is a true marvel, my only point was that the purpose of ABS is not to…
ABS shortens braking distance on even NC miatas...
Salesman who doesn’t have ABS-equipped cars in stock told me that ABS only helps the steering to function continuously but doesn’t really reduce the braking distance.
Usually those people attended the University of Shit My Dad Said
But “only pay cash” has been a staple jalopnik comment in the comment section of articles for years and years...😐
It’s easy to look back with 20/20 vision. When I was younger, my mom told me that my grandma had a ‘57 Bel-Air. I was so stunned that she didn’t keep it until she mentioned “It was like a Ford Taurus to them.” My brother had a ‘99 S2000 when it was new, and before that a ‘97 Prelude SH, both cars that would be worth…
