Hybrids and PHEVs are the perfect machine for RIGHT NOW.  The majority of commuter miles covered by a battery w/ the option of gas for longer trips or the occasional time you can’t charge.  Hybrids for those in apartments of other difficult to charge places.  And like Toyota has been saying for years now, 1 BEV or 100

Funny part is for myself, I don’t really care for EVs, but when I’m driving the hybrids, I want to drive it in EV mode all the time. It’s the strangest thing, but I think it’s because I have options; “well my job is only 10 miles away, I’ll just use full ev mode during the week and if I need to go farther, I can use

As I have said before and I will say it again. If the real goal is to remove as much carbon emissions from personal transport as possible, the best solution right now is Hybrid and PHEV. That does not mean it is the only or long-term solution, but trying to jump right from ICE to EV will prolong the change and leave

I think this is one of the few times were comment section here actually matches market demand. Short range PHEVs are the best of available technology and would make the vast majority of drivers accustomed to all electric for their daily commutes. They would probably improve the general public’s knowledge on plug in

We also really need to come up with some way to regulate e-bikes, which seem to be de rigueur now. The problem is that they travel almost as fast as motorcycles/scooters (in city traffic) but have no apparent obligation to comply with any of the regulations those vehicles have to deal with. No blinkers, no brake

IMO the willingness to bike to work hinges on 2 things, distance and weather.  I live in the south even IF I lived close enough to bike to work, which I mean technically at 4.5 miles I could if I was in better shape, about 8 months out of the year its a hard pass because it’s to damn hot and humid.  I would rather not

I love her in the wedding singer

So you’re telling me this is a show where Reese Witherspoon and Julianna Margulies are in a relationship with each other? Sounds like SOMEBODY finally read my fan fiction from 2003!

Yep. People that live in places with regular snow don’t understand the problems of ice storms in Tennessee. It’s not stuff that can be plowed off the road and the TDOT doesn’t have the ability to deal with it, so it’s just a massive mess of people going very slow (probably the best thing to do) and people driving like

I took the family on a road trip once.

Anononymity + Audience = Asshole.

Let’s remember this could have just as easily ended with a dead mother of two. This story sounds cool and all, but not worth the risk.

I’m not sure they’re aware that many states have laws permitting automobile drivers to use their vehicle as a weapon to escape a situation where they fear for their life.

it’s not just philly cops, it’s all cops. they’re not allowed to pursue these guys because of the danger to the public. i live in NYC, and packs of these assholes ride all over the city. not one of them has a license plate. two wheels, four-wheels, wheelies through red lights, riding on the sidewalk... you name it. i

Yup - talk about “fuck around and find out”. NEVER mess with a mother when kids are involved - you’ll be on the short end of the stick.

yes. That or Akira. They’re all going to end up road sausage eventually.

He deserves some quality time in a small room to think about the error of his ways. 5-10 years, perhaps.

Love how calm and nonchalant she was after she shoved him over, just casually walked back around to the side of the car. Nothing angers and/or scares a bully like someone who fights back and/or doesn’t get rattled even when literally outgunned.

He made an error in judgement while operating his bike and then proceeds to ‘roid rage out on her.

Don’t take on moms when their kids are involved. That’s a game of survivorship you don’t win. Add Philly to the mix and he’s lucky his arms weren’t relocated to his pelvic splanchnic ganglion.
