Before they had them beaten off.

The original was made for something like $500k.  Not a bad return!

And have you seen what’s happened with waterfront real estate?? Waterlogged undead revenge killers have been completely priced out of the market.

Yeah, doubtful there were direct flights from a minor eastern European country to New York.  That was probably a couple of connections, with most people dispersing elsewhere.  Who knows, maybe this story played out in a dozen airports simultaneously.

Not top shelf Spielberg, but plenty charming and hardly a ding against him as a filmmaker.  It’s a minor, character-driven story by a guy taking a break between blockbusters. I’m not surprised this writer likes the Fabelmans so much (which I enjoyed, but as with The Terminal would not put at the top of a Spielberg

Have you been to La Guardia recently? First time I flew into the unbeknownst-to-me renovated United terminal post-COVID (i.e. after a couple of years) I thought I’d boarded the wrong plane. I don’t know about the entire airport, but that terminal at least has been completely gutted and renovated to the point it’s

Hell, the movies he was in 15 years ago acknowledged this aspect of his behavior (and were not complimentary of it).

That’s family’s gonna need some lawyers, guns and money.

It basically means they’ve decided to tolerate it until pushed to the point they can’t anymore. Grab the cash while you can (because clearly there’s a market), then throw him overboard for whoever’s next.

Yeah this is kind of no-lose for the producers. Blame him for the times he oversteps, ride his antics until he finally goes too far and then ditch him for someone else. “In retrospect we should have been more diligent with respect to Mr. Brand’s actions, and regret any harm he may have caused. We as a producer of

The YT delay makes plenty of sense, given that immediate release of movies and TV series is damaging the movie industry and killing buzz around TV shows that were once appointment viewing.  Hell, I’d think they would wait more than 4 days.  Drop it a few hours before the next live episode.

I agree that the ad was a misfire because it could be interpreted in a number of ways, but agree that the intent was almost certainly “you can access the entire history of human artistic achievement through the portal of this one device!” Unfortunately it was released exactly when more people started worrying

Publicly traded companies actually have greater public accountability than private ones due to disclosure regs.  Plus regular people can benefit from holding their shares.  Putting money into a bank savings account is not a sound retirement strategy.

It’s a big difference when that corporation is manufacturing entertainment instead of physical goods (especially electronics like Apple). The latter requires mining of rare metals, big production plants, physical distribution, etc.  That’s a footprint an entertainment company doesn’t have.

You know when she announced she was going to be re-recording her original catalog that Gyllenhaal was like “Oh come ON! Didn’t we do this 10 years ago??”

Even with a guy like Kelce, the fame imbalance is always going to be massive. There’s not a male star on the planet who’s as big as Swift.  The fact that Alwyn is a very slightly-known actor seems like it would have made their relationship weird, which is probably why it ended when the world got out of lockdown.  They

I haven’t read the book in 30 years and so don’t have a great basis for comparison, but thought the new films told a fairly complex story in an uncluttered (and entertaining) way. From what I remember the original seemed more kitschy, but that is probably due to the difference in available effects.

Anything that could be salvaged from the original production would suffer badly by comparison to Villenueve’s version, so I don’t see how there’s the first bit of incentive for Lynch to even attempt it.

Reminds me of the old joke about the aspiring actress who was so dumb she fucked the writer.

Sounds like it was near Waterworld-level degree of difficulty, having to film so much only looking over open ocean.  I think the cost is just prohibitive relative to the box office you could expect.
